About Zaro Winery
The Zaro Family dates back to 1348 according to records. The family’s coat of arms is prevalent and expresses deep love and respect for their hometown and their love and passion for the region and vines. Zaro Winery respects the natural characteristics of the region of Izola and is reviving local traditional viticulture methods. Combining tradition with modern and innovative processes makes the winery strive to produce the best wines in Slovenian Istria.
Their vines grow on almost twenty hectares of land in the best locations with the highest fertility and minerals in the Izola area of the Venetian Republic. The soils, temperature, climate, and rainfall are perfect in the region for the growth and cultivation of high-quality vines.
Their vineyards, namely, Roncaldo, Morer, Folo, and Pivol, are the area’s premium locations.
The best grapes and integrated processes help create vibrant and unique wines that reflect their gifted terroir characteristics. The main types of grapes grown at Zaro Winery are Malvasia, Refosk, Negratenera, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are handpicked and used to produce their world-class red, white, and rosé wines.
