About Tres Sabores
Pursuing craftsmanship and quality in these three flavors is the heart of our mission at Tres Sabores. A family-owned, woman-led winery, we believe that every stage of the winemaking process is an opportunity for artistry, from the earth to the vine to the glass.
Tres Sabores (“three tastes”) was founded in 1999 by winemaker and owner, Julie Johnson, to explore the ‘three savory flavors’ in every glass of wine: the taste of the vine, the terroir, and the good company around the table. The property is filled with growing history as olives and vines were planted here over a century ago. Today, the farm is a certified organic (CCOF) grower of Cabernet, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, pomegranates, Meyer lemons, and Olives. We also raise Guinea fowl and sheep who serve not only as lawnmowers and the mobile fertilization team for the ranch but also ‘go to market’ and are served in some of the finest farm-to-table restaurants in the Bay Area.
Our estate on Napa Valley’s Rutherford Bench is the backdrop of every stage of our winemaking process. As a California Certified Organic Farm (CCOF), we cultivate grapevines, heritage olives, Meyer lemons, pomegranates, and more in our heirloom garden. Our ranch is also home to an ecosystem including bluebirds, red-tail hawks, a herd of sheep, a flock of Guinea fowls, and more. We utilize our ranch’s ambient yeasts in our fermentation process, making each bottle a genuine expression of our St. Helena home.
In our estate vineyard, we cultivate Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah varietals. Planted in 1972, these gnarled woody vines produce rich, complex flavors in each grape. We also select the highest-quality grapes from vineyards in Sonoma and Oregon’s Willamette Valley to complement and diversify our selection of wines.
