ABOUT THE PRODUCER
About Subject to Change Bang Bang Chardonnay
Subject to Change Bang Bang Chardonnay spends 8 months on the lees for a smooth, rich texture. Citrus, Anjou pear, and a mineral backbone.
The fruit for this Chardonnay comes from the Coastview Vineyard – a 2,400 ft elevation site in the Gabilan Mountains overlooking the Monterey Bay. This is the only vineyard that the winery works with outside of Mendocino. They foot crush the whole clusters, leave them on the skins for a day before pressing into neutral barrels for fermentation. After 8 months on the lees, the wine is racked off the lees to finish in stainless steel before bottling. On the nose, Bang Bang is matchbook flinty and reminiscent of seafoam. The palate is ethereal with a kiss of citrus, a little bit of Anjou pear, and a mineral backbone to round it out. Oh, and what’s up with the name? A “bang-bang” is when you have back-to-back dinners. We think you’ll want back-to-back bottles of this wine.
About Subject to Change Winery
Subject to Change makes wines with a strong character that are unique, fresh, and sometimes offbeat. The winery sources grapes exclusively from organic vineyards and makes the wines with no additions or subtractions in the cellar. Organic farming practices and the omission of added sulfur yield high energy wines with a lot to say.
Subject to Change was founded with a true love for drinking wine as a canvas for enjoying time with loved ones and meeting new fascinating people. In California, a place where wine production has been marked by rules and rigor, there’s a new movement of free-thinking producers with which we’re proudly associated. This movement is characterized by an affinity for experimentation, eschewing conformation to traditional ideals, and a desire to make wine exciting, accessible, and social. Grab a bottle, pop a cork, and don’t think too much if you don’t want to.
