Rocco Di Carpeneto Andeira Pét-Nat is the winery’s first attempt at a sparkling wine. The Andeira is a pét-nat style made from a soft pressing of Barbera grapes. The wine is unique to many pét-nat, as theirs is aged 6 months in old oak tonneaux before re-triggering fermentation. Plenty of wild berries and fresh red fruits, but also a fuller mouthfeel with underlying earthy notes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

About Rocco Di Carpeneto Andeira Pét-Nat

Rocco Di Carpeneto Andeira Pét-Nat is the winery’s first attempt at a sparkling wine. The Andeira is a pét-nat style made from a soft pressing of Barbera grapes. The wine is unique to many pét-nat, as theirs is aged 6 months in old oak tonneaux before re-triggering fermentation. Plenty of wild berries and fresh red fruits, but also a fuller mouthfeel with underlying earthy notes. Fruit is obtained primarily from vineyards planted in the 1970s. After a soft press and a short maceration, the base wine will age in concrete before moving to older oak barrels for 6 months. Secondary fermentation occurs with its own must, and the bottle will be capped without any filtration or other additions.

About Rocco Di Carpeneto

Rocco di Carpeneto is a radical, organic winery located on a small plateau amidst the Upper Monferrato hills, i.e. the closest to the Mediterranean Sea part of Piedmont. Wine production is strictly devoted to Piedmont-native grapes (Cortese, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Albarossa, Nebbiolo) grown in old vineyards — mostly planted between 1955 and 1986. They are a proud VinNatur member.

Rocco di Carpeneto wines are made up of the sun, earth, and their own passion only, in adherence to Upper Monferrato nature’s pace. Vineyards are organically treated with very limited quantities of copper and sulfur, managed with spontaneous grassing, or sown with green manure. Grapes are rigorously handpicked in small crates. The “do nothing farming” principles are the winery’s true inspiration.
