About Mirabel Charmis L’Ardeche Syrah
Mirabel Charmis L’Ardeche Syrah is a juicy, smokey red that punches above its weight class. Black and blue berry fruit, herbal, smokey spice.
Freshness dominates for this slightly beading wine that is both generous and melted. Powerful fruity and spicy aromas, typical of this Rhône Valley grape variety, preserved thanks to half of the whole harvest and the other half crushed, not destemmed, in short maceration. It will offer you a table wine whose aging will bring out all the aromas.
About Domaine Mirabel Charmis
Mirabel Charmis is a fairly new domaine created by young Remi Leorat in 2014. Remi’s grandfather held onto his vineyards until the end of his life (he passed away at 82 years old) and bequeath them to his grandson, Remi, in early 2010.
Remi who was passionate about farming took great care of the 1ha while working as a construction worker. In 2014, with the help of a few winemaker friends, he made a garage wine. The result was one barrel of really good wine. Confident, Remi decided to jump into this new world and planted 4ha by 2017 of Syrah, Marsanne, and Roussanne. The vineyards are located in a remote area south of Saint-Perary on gentle slopes. The soil is made of clay and limestone and schist.
Since the beginning, Remi has farmed organically and started the certification in 2019. Remi vinifies with minimum intrants – only sulfur at bottling. He destems and macerates the grapes for 10 days to obtain a light extraction. The wines are juicy with violet and blueberries; so typical of the Northern Rhone Syrah.
