Maynard James Keenan’s vision for Arizona wines lands in our shop on January 18th!

Maynard James Keenan, the frontman of the legendary rock band Tool, has shown the world that there is more to him than just music. Inspired by his Italian heritage and his winemaking great-grandfathers, Keenan founded Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars to pursue his passion for winemaking.

Despite being in a relatively unknown winemaking region, Keenan has made a mark for himself. His wineries have won numerous awards at international wine competitions, including the Los Angeles International Wine Competition, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, and the Texas Lone Star International Wine Competition. And while we don’t worry about awards too much here at Small Wine Shop, it is impressive that he has managed to make such a mark for himself from this relatively unknown winemaking region.

Caduceus Cellars & Merkin Vineyards maintains multiple vineyard sites across Arizona, including six vineyards situated amongst the stunning landscapes of the Verde Valley, as well as the Al Buhl Memorial Vineyards to the Southeast in Willcox. The vineyards range in elevation from 3,300 to 4,900 ft. Keenan’s projects focus on Italian and Spanish varietals well suited to Arizona’s climate.

Tickets: $40, FREE for Wine Club Members. Please RSVP to reserve your spot.
