ABOUT THE PRODUCER

About Love Letter by Laila White

Love Letter by Laila White is an intriguing skin-contact white wine with lush tropical fruit and dried tangerine rind, musky floral, sea spray, and mineral notes. The wine does have some drying tannins balanced by bright, chalky acidity. Hand harvested Merwah is destemmed, pressed, and fermented with native yeast and on the skins for three weeks. After completion, the wine sees a further three weeks on the skins. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, and sees no sulfur addition.

Merwah is thought to be genetically similar to the French grape Semillon, which was introduced to Europe by the Phoenicians of ancient Lebanon. Merwah was traditionally planted on small terraces surrounded by fig and olive trees.
