ABOUT THE PRODUCER

About La Querce Seconda Chianti Classico

The La Querce Seconda Chianti Classico comes from the winery’s pristine organic fruit. This fruit grows on galestro soils of loose marl and limestone. Hand-harvested, the wine ferments with natural yeast in stainless steel. Then, aging takes place in a 10-year-old, 2000-liter French oak tonneau. Very low amounts of sulfite additions retain the pristine quality of the estate’s fruit. This classic Chianti results in an incredible depth of flavor, structure, and class. Complex with notes of red fruit, currant, plum, spice, light balsamic, and eucalyptus. The palate reconfirms these characters along with integrated tannins and acidity. The finish is long and well-balanced. Enjoy this wine with rustic Tuscan fare, game, firm Pecorino, or tomato-based dishes.

About La Querce Seconda Winery

La Querce Seconda is a small, organic Chianti Classico family estate. Niccolo Bernabei is the second generation of his winemaking family. In 1995, he and Linda Sandkvist took the project to a more serious level. Their property stretches for about 45 hectares. It covers forests, olive orchards, a lovely agriturismo, and of course, the vineyards. The duo is completely devoted to only using Sangiovese in their Chianti. They exert continual efforts into the earth to make sure the vines express the terroir of the area. They also only use natural yeasts, low sulfur practices, and very old and large oak. The expression they can achieve from their cared for vines is extraordinary.
