About Jérémy Arnaud
The young scion of an old Chablisienne family, Jérémy Arnaud struck out on his own before even finishing school at Beaune. By that point, Arnaud had spent his childhood among the vines at his family’s estate (Domaine La Marquise) and done stints with Vincent Girardin, at Clerc Milon in Bordeaux, at a Champagne house in Epernay, all while immersed in the rigors of viticultural school. In 2015 an opportunity arose to purchase a 0.48-hectare plot in the premier cru Vau de Vey. Jérémy jumped at the chance and has never looked back. He now is converting this parcel of land into a more natural, sustainable vineyard free of harmful additions and practice. This philosophy carries over into the cellar where Jérémy is opting to use minimal sulfur additions and carrying out his winemaking with low-intervention aspects.
Vau de Vey is a small premier cru vineyard with excellent soils (intense Kimmeridgian limestone) and steep slopes, catches the morning sun, giving fruit from the 40-year-old vines floral and citrus notes, and strong underlying minerality. The steepness of the slope makes mechanization impossible so everything in the vineyard is done by hand. This plot of land can produce a maximum of 3,700 bottles for each vintage.
