About Jean-Francois Debourg
Jean-Francois Debourg is a grape grower and winemaker located in the southern part of Beaujolais at Saint-Germain Nuelles. The family estate has existed since 1850 and was passed down from his father. It is made up of different terroirs (clay-limestone, silt, granite, alluvium, pink sands) which allows Jean to develop vintages with characteristics specific to each plot. The vines on the estate are made up of Gamay, Viognier, and Chardonnay.
Until 2016 the grapes were either brought to the cooperative cellar or sold to local winegrowers (and this remains the case for about 9 hectares). In 2016, a change of profession saw Jean becoming a winemaker and not only a winegrower. Jean is not only a winemaker, but he is also a mason and built both his winery and wine room.
