Fangst Brisling No.2 The Nordic Sardine is canned brisling, a small fish that traditionally was landed in great numbers along the Scandinavian and Baltic coastlines. Here it was prepared by hand and preserved in cans to be sold as a Nordic version of sardine. The brisling from FANGST is the cannery’s contribution to revive and create a new place for this fine fish as the ‘Nordic sardine’. Smoked over beechwood.

About Fangst

Fangst means ‘catch’ in Danish and Norwegian, and is the name of our small company. We are rooted in Scandinavia and dedicated to the evolution of Nordic food culture. This involves re-discovering and rethinking foods and cooking methods we have forgotten or do not respect anymore.

Canned seafood is an art we have far from developed to its potential in our Nordic region. Yet, with hundreds of small canning companies along our coastlines a century ago, we actually do have a tradition for this fine preservation method. Our waters have some of the finest fish in the World and our gastronomy is being praised for its quality and innovation. Therefore, with the help of good people, we have set sail to re-discover and explore the abundance of seafood in the Nordic oceans. With respect for nature and gastronomic craftsmanship. Preserved in cans and served as tasty meals or snacks from the North. It is a journey that we have only just started and there is a lot to learn and develop. But we have worked hard to present our first cans.
