Many years ago, I discovered that as I and many others age our palates change. Flavors that are not well received in your teens and twenties suddenly become different. It was in my early 30’s when I realized that I liked Blood Marys. It was definitely a nice hair of the dog or winter warmer on a cold day shoveling snow or kicking back with friends and watching a game. The store-bought versions were OK, but my friends and I always seemed to be adding something to those to get them just right.

That is when I began to dabble with recipes that I was finding in cookbooks and online. Then one day I found what I thought was a great blend of ingredients and began to experiment and develop a flavor profile that was unique, but noticeably still in the tradition of a true Bloody Mary. Friends that were in the food and beverage business that tried my concoction loved it and asked if they could have it for their restaurants. Other friends that had a passion for Bloody Marys kept asking me to make some mix for them. Chef friends loved that it was so versatile in the kitchen and began incorporating it into their dishes.

I knew that I was onto something, but I wasn’t ready to dive deep into that world and begin selling it, rather it was to be enjoyed by friends and I on those days when we were watching a football game, shoveling snow, a day on the golf course or a night on the slopes.

Then came March 2020, and we all know what happened as the world shut down. I hadn’t made my Bloody Mary mix in several years, but sitting at home, the bars and restaurants closed something told me to whip up a batch. Well, the results were the same as before with friends (my COVID club) asking me to make more for them and others asking if they could sell it in their restaurants. It was at this time that I knew it was time to begin this journey. I established DUDE WOW Cocktails to share this great recipe with the world.
