Vintage: 2021
Region: Saumur, Loire, France
Viticulture: Organic
Grape varieties: 100% Cabernet Franc
Domaine des Sables Verts Glouglou is a lip-smacking and juicy chillable red. Made from Cabernet Franc, the flavors bounce between macerated strawberry, red plum, and cinnamon. The grapes were hand harvested and crushed before being transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The fermentation began spontaneously using only the naturally occurring indigenous yeasts. After a relatively short 8 days of maceration, the tanks were pressed, and the juice finished fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 5 months. Prior to bottling, there is a light filtration and a very low dose of sulfur added.

About Domaine des Sables Verts
Caroline Meurée & Hervé Malinge are a young winemaking couple who met while studying in Bordeaux. Despite neither of them being from the Loire Valley, in 2019 they bought Domaine des Sables Verts in the heart of Saumur Champigny and embarked on their first vintage. The domaine comprises 16 hectares of vines across 5 communes (Varrains, Chacé, Saumur, Souzay-Champigny et Parnay) which they intend to work organically in order to maintain the soil diversity. Fifteen hectares are planted with Cabernet Franc and just one with Chenin Blanc. The vines lie on deep clay-limestone soils that are rich in tuffeau and green sand, or ‘sables verts’, which inspired the name of the domaine.
