ABOUT THE PRODUCER

About Domaine de L’Ecu Mephisto Cabernet Franc

Domaine de L’Ecu Mephisto Cabernet Franc is a Loire Valley red wine planted in a parcel dominated by granite. Biodynamically farmed, soils are worked, leaf-pulling is done manually and all fruit is harvested by hand. At harvest, all fruit is received in the winery via gravity (no pumps). Destemmed then aged in a combination of amphora and old barrels for 15 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Zero sulfur is added. Dominated by aromas of expressive black fruits and red berries, ripe strawberry and red currant, and hints of white pepper. Supple on the mouthfeel with a mid-palate that is taut but charming. The tannins are velvety, the palate is rich, deep, and delicate with chiseled fruit and sweet spice notes.
