About Cantina Indigeno

Cantina Indigeno is located near Teramo, Abruzzo region, Central Italy. Cantina Indigeno is one of Italy’s most exciting natural wine producers, working with minimal intervention and organically farmed, mostly Montepulciano and Trebbiano grapes. Their natural wines are nothing short of amazing. Always different, always evolving in the glass.

About Cococciola

Cococciola is an Italian grape variety from the east coast of southern Italy, specifically Abruzzo and northern Puglia. It is a green-skinned grape that produces straw-colored wine with pronounced acidity and grassy, herbaceous aromas comparable to those found in Sauvignon Blanc.

Although traditionally used as a blending grape due to its ability to produce balanced wines, Cococciola is now found more and more in varietal wines produced and sold under Abruzzo’s various IGT titles.

Cococciola’s origins have yet to be proven. Still, it has been suggested that the variety might be native to Rocca San Giovanni, a small town in the Chieti province of Abruzzo. At the turn of the century, the variety occupied a global total of fewer than 2,475 acres (1,000 ha) of vineyard area.
