About Cantina Indigeno
Cantina Indigeno is located near Teramo, Abruzzo region, Central Italy. Cantina Indigeno is one of Italy’s most exciting natural wine producers, working with minimal intervention and organically farmed, mostly Montepulciano and Trebbiano grapes. Their natural wines are nothing short of amazing. Always different, always evolving in the glass.
About Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Montepulciano is a red wine grape grown widely in central Italy, most notably in its eastern Abruzzo, Marche, and Molise regions. However, it is not planted in Montepulciano in southern Tuscany (see below). The variety is used mainly to produce dry red wines. A notable exception can be found in the lighter, cherry-colored Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo.
Montepulciano wines are globally appreciated for their soft flavors and strong color pigments. Gentle tannins and a low acidity create a medium-bodied wine that is typically best consumed soon after bottling. Although, the variety also responds well to a judicious use of oak to create a richer, age-worthy style of wine. The deep purple juice is used in varying proportions under roughly 30 of Italy’s DOC and DOCG titles.
