About Bella Vita

Bella Vita is the Italian good life. It is the dream of the great brother-sister winemaking team of Carlo and Annalisa Botter. Together they have created the Bella Vita line of wines: a bright & lively Pinot Grigio from Treviso in Veneto, and a rich, old-vine Montepulciano from Abruzzo. Two delicious wines. It must be la bella vita.

About Pinot Grigio

Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio) is a pinkish grape mutation of Pinot Noir. It’s famously known for zesty white wines, but can also be used for rosé. Look to Northern Italy, Oregon, and Alsace for benchmark examples. Primary notes of white peach, lemon zest, cantaloupe, raw almond, and crushed gravel.

Though originally known as Pinot Gris in France, the Italians of the northernmost parts of their country have made Pinot Grigio into one of the most planted white grapes in Italy. While France’s Pinot Gris is known for its fleshy fruitiness (often using botrytis to make sweet wines), Italy’s Pinot Grigio is far better known as a totally dry wine, with bitter notes and high acidity. And while it’s best known as white wine, the grapes of Pinot Grigio are actually quite pink, leading to the occasional use of this grape as a rosé.

Pinot Gris works excellently with white meats and seafood particularly in meals that include a fruit element such as lemons, oranges, peaches, or apricots.
