Meet the Winemaker: Joe Swick Tasting

Thursday January 26th • 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

We are excited to welcome Joe Swick, winemaker, and owner of Joe Swick Wines in Oregon. Joe’s wines are as naked and raw as he can get them, and these are fun and delicious wines that reflect the place they are grown and the winemaker that creates them. He only makes wines he loves to drink, and we love that about him!

About Joe Swick and the Winery

A native of Oregon, Joe Swick returned to his home state in 2013 after a decade of working harvests and making wine across the globe. Joe’s work is rooted in the unique cold climate terroirs of the Pacific Northwest. The wines he makes reflect this region and follow a hands-off approach.

Swick partners exclusively with organic and biodynamic growers to develop fresh and lively wines with no conventional additives. He only adds modest amounts of SO2 on select wines when absolutely necessary to keep the wine stable in the bottle.

The winery works with organically farmed vineyards in the colder regions of Oregon and Washington State. Swick Wines are part of a movement working on rewriting the history of West Coast winemaking. Joe uses minimal intervention techniques, including experimentation with skin-contact wines, field blends, and Pét-Nats. Swick works with historically farmed regional varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc, and Grenache and experiments with non-native grapes such as Verdelho, Melon de Bourgogne, and Touriga Nacional. What ends up in the glass are energetic vins de soif. These are fresh wines with balanced acidity. They reflect their artist, terroir, and space in time, bringing new wines and a new approach each year. You never know what surprises you might find with Swick.

We can’t wait for y’all to meet Joe! We are also very grateful to Martin of Cerda Llanos y Cia for allowing us to host this tasting for you all!
